Supervisory Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist
Directs the Diagnostic imaging technical services and programs that support this facility. These services provided are direct and have a significant impact in other multi-mission organizational units' ability to provide critical patient support. The incumbent's ability to identify and implement methods for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of performing these services and the liaison role the incumbent plays affects the overall operational services to the patients, families, and community. Plans and coordinates work to be accomplished by sub-areas; Ultrasound, Fluoroscopy, CT, MR and General Radiology. Sets and adjust short-term and long-term priorities and prepares schedules for goals on completion of assigned tasks. Assigns work based on priorities, consideration of difficulty and requirements of assignments, and capabilities of employees .Directs the work performance of subordinates and reports findings to the Imaging Supervisor. Decides on emergent, costly, routine or controversial training needs and training requests related to employees of Radiology for Imaging Chief Technologist approval. Evaluate technical imaging contractors work to ensure quality and standards compliance and reports the findings and/or addresses the issues as identified with the Imaging Supervisor. Serves as theSafe Patient Handling/Unit Peer Leader within the department. Makes decisions on work problems presented by facility supervisors, administrators, facility team leaders, and discusses their ideas with the Imaging Supervisor for action plan. Provides advice, counsel, or instruction to employees on clinical matters. Follows established departmental policies, procedures and protocols. Incumbent follows all HIPPA guidelines to ensure integrity, authenticity and confidentiality of all imaging data transmitted by the various modalities. The incumbent assists Radiologists in research. Incumbent provides evaluation and reports to the Chief Technologist. Incumbent must be professional, cooperative and be able to work with other employees while providing continued role model attitude and professionalism. The incumbent is responsible to ensure that all employees are up to date and competent in department/modality competencies. Incumbent ensures that all competency information is appropriately documented. Ensures each employee mandatory education is completed on time and properly documented. The incumbent is responsible to ensure that each employee's certifications and registrations are current and recorded. Ensures Radiology Technologist employee folders are current. The incumbent will assume the responsibility of making sure that all staff is appropriately trained on new equipment in the department. All in-services will be properly documented in the employee's record. Half of the Supervisory Technologist's schedule will be designated to performing patient exams in the incumbents trained modality. This includes in-patient, outpatient and emergent exams. The incumbent will also develop and maintain a working relationship with the PACS Administrator. Provides back-up coverage for the Chief Technologist. This may include attending meetings in the absence of the Chief Technologist. May be required to participate in the rotating on-call schedule if determined they are qualified in the required modalities in accordance with the department/medical center mission. Provides back-up support in absence of the Chief Technologist. Incumbent will maintain Super User skills on all new equipment and PACS systems that they have completed training for. Completes ADPAC duties as assigned. Schedules exams in a manner to optimize exam time while maintaining flexibility for emergency cases. This requires the ability to prioritize scheduled patients as well as the ability to accommodate the emergency patient who may need immediate transfer for emergency surgery, emergency consults etc. Assist radiologist in researching exam orders for appropriateness. Ensures yearly screenings of lead shields, aprons, gloves, and thyroid shields is completed. Documentation is recorded yearly and provided to the Chief Technologist. Work Schedule:
