Applicants selected for these positions will primarily perform COVID-19 screening for incoming employees, patients and visitors prior to entry into the facility. The screening process includes administering a symptom questionnaire to gauge symptoms as well as checking body temperature. In addition to screening, employees may perform the following duties at the discretion of management:
Provides holistic in-patient care to Veterans in a manner conducive to the comfort and safety of those in the facility hospital units, living centers and/or household. Provides assistance as needed with activities of daily living and with other needs as required in accordance with established policies and procedures to assure that the highest degree of resident's quality of life and care is maintained. Provides care for a group of patients/residents of varying ages. Use and follow proper hand hygiene, universal precautions and general infection control principles. Provides a range of personal care as needed to include bathing, toileting, hair and nail care, and dressing in personal clothing while maintaining privacy and dignity of inpatient/resident. Assists as needed with eating, drinking, positioning/ turning, ambulating, transferring, and escorting inpatients/residents. Maintains general cleanliness of the inpatient/resident's environment including emptying and cleaning urinals, bed pans, GU bags and suction bottles, and disposing of dirty linen and disposable briefs. Assists as needed with laundering and distributing resident's personal clothing. Provides postmortem care including care of the body, collecting personal effects and transporting the deceased to the morgue. Utilizes specialized equipment such as ceiling lifters, Maxi lifters, wheelchair movers, steady and electric stretchers according to Safe Patient Handling and Movement Policy. Incumbent carries records, reports, laboratory specimens, x-rays, prosthetic equipment and patient prescriptions to designated areas, excluding control substance. Performs a range of clinical support duties, which include taking, recording vital signs and reporting deviations to the RN. Performs a complete range of treatment procedures that include:
applying simple and complex sterile dressing, assists with inpatient/resident examinations and performs simple treatments such as hot and cold soaks, hot and cold packs, topical medications, foot soaks, sitz baths, etc.; checks sterile supplies and topical medications for outdated items and/or broken seals. Recognizes and institutes appropriate action in emergency situations such as performing CPR, Heimlich maneuver for choking, seizure precautions and safety during seizures, and emergency first aid. Performs routine tasks that assist in the implementation of leisure and diversional activities and promotes meaningful use of time that enhances independence, positive self-esteem and relaxing leisure experiences. Establishes and promotes effective interpersonal relationships and communications with inpatients/residents, families and others. Establishes and promotes effective working relationships with other employees on the treatment team. Listens to all customer feedback and acts to resolve complaints within his/her control, and reports to immediate supervisor in a timely manner. Obtains equipment and supplies and assists the RN and/or medical provider(s) when he/she performs minor medical/surgical procedures when appropriate and within skills and knowledge. Maintains safe and sanitary environment for inpatients/residents, staff and visitors. Reports and removes safety hazards; utilizes correct moving and transferring techniques according to Safe Patient Handling and appropriate body mechanics; evacuates inpatient/residents during fire and disaster; makes visual check of all inpatient/residents, provides one-to-one observation as directed for assaultive and seriously ill inpatients/residents, and follows facility policy related to suicidal inpatients/residents. Prepares, cooks, and serves food using Food Service Management Program and local infection control procedures as needed. Maintains inventory control as needed. Assists with inventory management and ordering of supplies, placing stock as provided by standard procedure in appropriate storage areas, rotating stock on shelves, replenishing, and removing/replacing outdated items if needed. Duties require extensive periods of standing and walking. Working with residents requires regular and recurring bending, lifting (not to exceed 35 pounds), reaching, carrying, stooping, stretching and similar activities. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. GS-03 grade level:
Six (6) months of general experience. General Experience is defined as (1) any type of work that demonstrates the applicant's ability to perform the work of the position, or (2) experience that provided a familiarity with the subject matter or processes of the broad subject area of the occupation. PLEASE NOTE:
This position requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. If selected, Applicant will provide proof of current certification prior to employment. Only BLS certification which included Automated External Defibrillator (AED) obtained from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or the Military Training Network (MTN) will be accepted. OR Education:
Applicants may substitute education for the experience required. Successful completion of one (1) year, beyond high school, of study that included study in medical, health or related fields. If qualifying based on education, an unofficial transcript or listing of courses must be submitted with your application, which will be verified through official transcript if selected. OR Combination:
Applicants may qualify based on a combination of education and experience. The total qualifying experience is taken as a percentage of the 6 months' experience required; qualifying education is taken as a percentage of the 1 year education substitution. When added together, the total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
